MacKenzie Greenwell is a leader in the Canadian tap scene. Originally from Cochrane, AB, he has spent the last 15 years traveling all over the world performing, teaching, and choreographing. A dedicated mentor, MacKenzie has worked with and continues to foster many of Canada’s up-and-coming tap dancers. As a performer, he is a former touring cast member of the internationally acclaimed show Tap Dogs, was a principal dancer in the Rhythm & Sound Tap Company in Toronto, and was also a choreographer for the Canadian National Team in 2018.
MacKenzie now lives in Nova Scotia, where he is an active member of the jazz music scene. He is a member of the Toronto/Halifax-based band, Game.Set.Trap. and he joined up with Halifax-based dance company Rooted Dance Projects for their original show WHODUNIT?, debuting in 2022 and touring in 2024. In 2023, he co-founded Rhythmm, to establish a foundation for percussive dance to grow and thrive on the east coast. His latest project Triptych is a collaborative playground of improvisation, with fellow artists Michèle King and Meghan Gilhespy, and explores all the possibilities connecting tap dance, movement, and soundscapes.
